BTD, no question. It sh*ts on everything though. I really don't understand why the score is so low. Of course this was back when it was cool to hate Lana after SNL and calling her fake/manufactured, etc. I'm afraid some critics let that seep into their reviews.
Maybe because most experienced critics don't see it as a good album? After the first five or so tracks every song becomes a re-creation of the one before it... It's not varied at all and the lyrics are monotone and vague - more clichéd than cryptic. It's not as bad as Paradise where she re-uses the same formula and two note hooks.
BTD. Most if the reviewer's criticisms are valid (samey production, formulaic lyrics) but the hipster publications have some sort of vendetta against her. High 60's would be more appropriate. There are some really strong songs with good melodies and interesting content on there.
Sales =/= quality of course, but the longevity of BTD on the album charts should speak for it standing the test of time.

Nice try but no cigar. It can clearly be demonstrated that BTD's ridiculous score of 61 is directly attributable to the SNL/US backlash affecting critic reviews/impartiality. Strip away ALL the US reviews (so I am NOT cherry picking) included in that metacritic score and we are left with a score of 78? Co-incidence? Err, no.
