As we were younger all we would really do is listen to what was popular on Radio, or Disney Channel. When you got older, who was the first artist that got you into listening to albums/unreleased/etc?
For me it was Ke$ha.
TiK ToK was my favorite song ever then, and then I was on Pandora and heard "Party At A Rich Dude's House" + "Boots & Boys" and fell in love with those songs too. Then I fell in love w/ the rest of the singles + videos on YT from Animal era.
So then while she was on break before Cannibal I got into soooo many unreleased songs, then all the Cannibal songs. Now I'm also into Warrior + have heard most of her unreleased songs, and her whole released discography.
All of my favourite artists I started to like from their first mainstream singles (Just Dance, I Kissed A Girl, TiK ToK)... but I listened to their whole albums as they were released too. So Katy's One Of The Boys, I guess? Lady Gaga was the first artist that I started to listen to unreleased material from, though. And I was only about 12 back then, too.
I even used Rihanna's Pon De Replay and If It's Lovin' That You Want when they were released... not so much her album (a little bit). The only artist I stan for that I didn't love from their mainstream debut was Nicki, who I started to get into after Moment 4 Life was released as a single. After that, I got Pink Friday, and fell in love with her even more. Then Super Bass happened, and that cemented my interest in her.
I had Britney's first three albums back in the day... the first two on cassette Maybe I even got In The Zone, I don't remember... but I'm pretty sure that was around when I stopped stanning for her.
As I got older? Well I kinda grew up listening to The Offspring, Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, and RHCP from my parents, so I'm not sure if they count. No Doubt was the first full discography I actively went after myself, 7th grade Christmas
I made sure to cover the trinity: Whitney, Janet & the omnipresent MADONNA.
Like, these 3 women pioneered so many things & conquered the 80's. I would take my mothers albums & cassette tapes (do any of y'all know what these are? Lol).
Madonna gave me LIFE & has stayed with me since. Her music is imbedded in my SOUL!
