Well in the past she and YG both overhyped things and never stuck to a plan, but it all paid off in the end. But with the ARTPOP era Gaga started overhyping, promising things that never happened, etc. as usual except this time it didn't pay off. She didn't flop per say but by her standards it's quite a plunge, and even her own fans started to get irritated to the point where they began jumping ship. From what I understand, there's a consensus among the fanbase that she's become somewhat...unremarkable, in the sense that there is no longer an aura of awe surrounding her every move like in the past. I've heard everything from "it feels like she's kind of lost focus" to "just throwing random stuff around to see what works" and "generally being a mess" from an industrial point of view even though a bare majority agrees that the music is still decent-to-great.
I think all of that can be applied to YG rn.
I know it's a weird analogy but it kind of fits.
(tl;dr - the music stays good if not somewhat transitional; the antics are becoming a mess)
disclaimer: any and all criticisms of one Lady Gaga contained in this post do not represent the thoughts or opinions of Blueberry Kisses, but rather the reactions from a small minority of pop music's staunchest adherents he has observed, and are meant to be taken lightly as they are employed for analogical purposes. Any and all criticisms of YG in this post are totally mine and totally valid cause a grown-ass business man needs to be able to get his **** together.
