I completely agree with you.

Sometimes it's OKAY to take a gap year or two and it's not even necessarily about being lazy. I'm 21 and I'm JUST about ready to go to college after graduating HS when I was 17. Not only did I have no motivation about going to college, I also did not live my youth. At all. I was a shy kid growing up and HARDLY got through HS, how could I get through to college? It's not like HS where you can pass with a D and get it over with.

Now that I've lived four years, experienced life, worked my ass off, gained self confidence and focus on what I wanna do with my life, I'm finally ready to take the next step to get a bachelor's degree in the area I want to.

I'm somewhere in the middle tbh.

I go to community college but I've taken only 8 to 9 units a semester so far. It works for me tbh because I can do well in my classes without being overwhelmed and still get a chance to have fun around the city and live life.

I am afraid the business school I want to go to doesn't accept admissions from people that aren't coming from high school. It doesn't say on their website. So I might not be able to take a gap year.

One can always lie, right?

But yeah, I doubt I'll take a gap year anyway. Thinking about it now, my family wouldn't let me. It really sucks being the youngest and also having strict parents.

Lemme give u this advice: Do the same.
A gap year is not good... After that year you're gonna have problems getting into the study rhythm.
I've had like 10 friends who did a gap year and they all struggle with school after being used to doing nothing.

To the OP, imo you should go straight to uni/college. It's better to just go and get it done with. Sooner you start, sooner you're done. And it is a good experience too. Plus it really will be better as your brain is still in the right mode to study.

I went straight to university. There are pros and cons to both... like some have trouble going back to school after taking a break... whereas others figure out what they want to do when they take a break.

Thanks. I have accepted my offer and at this stage that is the plan, i just made this thread to see the pros and cons of both and to clarify that my decision was right.

Yes, I didn't want to go to college right after high school. I had no idea what I wanted to for a living at that time. I graduated HS in 2005 and right after I was blessed to have really good paying job thanks to my mom. I worked from 2006 until I got laid off from my job in 2009. 2009 was such a horrible year for me. I was going through a lot of ****. At that point I was ready to go back to school. In 2011 I did switch my major to graphic designing. My original major was hospitality. and I ended up not liking it. Long story short I'm still in school. I do regret taking too long of a break though.
