Whatever point they're trying to make was moot the moment I walked into a Target down here in Houston and saw both channelORANGE and Watch The Throne in the CD section.
Target is not a person, it can't have personal feelings. That is literally the stupidest thing I've heard all day. It IS a logical business decision because it's a preventative measure that is attempting to keep other artists from releasing their album on iTunes a week early. Digital retailers are still competitors even though Target doesn't sell digital music. Did YOU read the article? It may not have a huge impact on Beyonce, but if they don't take a stand, other artists may do the same thing and it will affect their business.
Do you think robots make the business decisions for Target or something?
But, the thing is... Why set an example with an album that is destined to succeed? Like, this isn't going to hurt her or the album. If I were going to set an example, I would have done it with someone who would do terrible w/o store sales...
The only thing this is doing is increasing iTunes + Amazon sales because now I have to order a copy online from Amazon. Consumers will GLADLY go to another source to get this album or any album.
They're going to set the example with anyone. It doesn't matter if it's Warren Buffet putting an album out or Ashanti. They just want extra coins. But i disagree with the other part. I think a lot of people are going to resort to illegal downloading cause you cannot buy individual tracks. Not everyone is interested in an entire album.

Exactly!
Like, I was planning on going to the nearby Target to pick up my phsyical, but I guess now I'll just order it on Amazon Prime, which is much less work anyway. It's not like we consumers have some kinda brand loyalty to Target when it comes to CDs. We just want the damn physical.
I was totally buying my copy at Target... I guess Best Buy is getting my money now..
It's just stupid on Target's end... This doesn't "prove" a point and if they did it because they feel it wont "sell well" now then they're NOTHING but wrong and really need to hire a new statistical team

I mean 10 minutes of social media research would have told them lots of people who bought digital copies also wanted a physical copy.
Isn't the physical copy going to have the full HD videos?
