No. Michael had never reached the height of fame and popularity of Elvis. Elvis was already more famous as a musician than Michael ever was but Elvis trumps him even more as a sex icon. Elvis is the most famous popstar.

You do realise that Elvis was at the height of his fame about 50 years ago and he's still easily Top 3 of the most famous musicians of all time? It's going to take a lot more than just his original fans (Who I highly doubt are even using the internet since they're in their 60s and 70s) dying to make him irrelevant.
Plus Legends don't stop being famous just because time goes by, look at Cleopatra and basically all the top 10
