Bey is so clever.
Bow Down got accused of misogny, bey puts in some random african lady talking about gender equality now people all of the sudden think the song is Pro Feminism, which it is not. The song is also super arrogant but then in the video it shows her lose the competition in the end, so she can easily play it off as a fantasy humble brag.
If her surprise album flopped because nobody was here for her alt rnb, she still had Pretty Hurts & XO for the white ppl. Then her team would generate fake rumours of her and Jay Z splitting up, supported by some of these music videos, to gather some attention to her project once again.
If her raunchy image backfired she still had Blue, and it would be the last thing anyone will remember after finishing the album. She could have had a sex tape in between Pretty Hurts and Blue and she would benefit from the controversy, and any backlash would be mostly cancelled out by making Blue a single and shoving it down everybody's throat. "Look I'm human/still the same mama etc".
Genius. There was no way this era could flop
