I'm not understanding the crazy backlash towards this comment, considering whoever wrote the article is applying this supposed "relief" he felt during the statement themselves, which -- given the comment he made -- just seems like they were reaching for shade.

Nope, I agree. People here are really doing too much on him for this. Even in its most negative interpretation, it hardly qualifies as shade, and definitely doesn't merit some of the more aggressive responses here.
