The thing is, Americans are way more focused on 'politically correct'.
In Europe when someone like Rih or Gaga (in her prime) came along we're just like 'yeah what a crazy bitch!' while in America you'd get backlash.
You don't have to be miss perfect to be appreciated for your music, we don't have that celebrity obsession (as much) here as they do in America.
Something like what happened with Britney in 2007 would never happen here, maybe in the UK but the UK is way more bonded with the US than the rest of Europe.

This summer is gonna be my first trip to the US.
I'm really interested as to how that experience is gonna be.
I feel like it's gonna be amazing or totally suck.
