Not necessarily, R&B influences are huge in Asian pop music like J-pop and K-pop. She just never bothered to promote it when she was over there.

But, singles after an album release are actually kind of pointless in Japan. You can't impact the Japanese charts without a physical single release (Applause was the only "pop girl" single to impact the Oricon single charts) and usually typically in Asian pop the singles get released and the album release is final thing in the cycle.

TV airplay means nothing, though... No one watched music videos on TV anymore and so it has no impact. As of right now, lyric videos are for charting in the US.

If she doesn't release the video around The Voice performance THEN we can all complain and whine. As of right now, it appears that is what she's waiting for and that is smart.

Then fans would complain about "too much hype".
