No, she wasn't the first person to release an album out of nowhere. Kanye even did it this year. But considering the amazing reaction she's received from the public, will others begin copying this strategy in 2014? Will it work for them?
Kanye told his release date prior. Not Beyoncé. And I think a few may use it after this. But you better believe this album will always be mentioned if they do. The impact. Already iconic.
Only if this turns out to be really successfull, maybe she has less longevity, we practically know nothing about this strategy yet since it's just the first day.
Yes, but only certain artists. Mostly indie artists. I couldn't see Rihanna, Katy, Ke$ha, Britney or Christina doing it, but possibly Gaga, Kanye, Solange, Sky Ferreira, Charli XCX, etc. Possibly Adele? Who knows. I could also see some rappers doing it.
I don't think it'll be an exact copy, but it might invoke some change in the way releases trend. Hopefully, it's gets artists out of the pro-longing, over-hyping of an era months ahead of release. I could see more artists announcing an album release just a few weeks ahead of time now, with just one single leading it off.
I can only hope and pray that it inspires more artists to make videos for every, or at least more, songs.
The novelty will wear off. Beyoncé is having Rebecca Black Friday success. Not everyone on Drizzy's channel can have the same success. People will get bored. Beyonce has took advantage of the best promo tool there is; word of mouth. People will eventually get tired of discussing whose album dropped out of no where this month. Luckily she was one of the 1st to do it.
