Simple question: Is Legend B aka BaddieB bka B the STANDARD for being a singer?! (Pop & R&B mainly)
Take into account: record sales, singing and dancing capabilities, looks, finances, fame, social status (which is different than social media), movies, awards, tours, social media, love life, acclaim & praise, records, impact, scandals, fragrances, DVD's (which may be categorized under record sales lol), etc
I don't know. But what I do know is that unlike virtually ALL of her competitors/rivals/peers, Beyoncé has discernible talent...can actually sing, dance and perform worth the cost of a CD/concert ticket...has complete control over her career...is the most awarded, celebrated, respected, revered and powerful pop star of her generation...and most importantly has the biggest net worth of them all.
So she's probably NOT the standard, since most of them don't have half of that and won't anytime soon.
Yes. People are always referring to her as the singer they are inspired by/want to be like. That in itself is a sign of a true icon.
I'm ready for the girls to come in throwing shade about her sales though.
Her reach just knows no bounds
And I'm more than willing to debate her sales. Ch...some girls will never ever see HALF her sales from DC, let alone her solo sales. It always amazes me when people suggest she debuted in the 90's, but refuse to admit she sold album and records during those times as well. That's dumb.
And the argument that she "needed" a group for help is dumb also, some girls started in groups as well, but aborted those missions when it was not working out for them. So yes she had a successful girl group AND what?!
Rihanna sells more singles. Pink, and up until recent events Gaga sell more albums. Gaga has bigger tours.
The only thing she has over other girls is her suspicious amount of Grammys.

Now go back to the drawing board.
Sis.. Rihanna selling more singles really equate to her being the standard to you? lol Does quality not matter any more? Only those who sell the most quick lil singles?
Also, P!nk is a contender but no and I love my sis P!nk, even support her career
Gaga... is interesting right now lol...but again, NO She has not impacted the world like Beyoncé has. Especially if we consider talent, pound for pound. But again, I support her career and will continue to do so. Because her and Adele are two of my faves who have emerged over the last few years. And that's another thing, longevity is what should be considered as well.
Beyonce is not the standard for singing. No one refers to her as a great singer. Only as a performer. Better examples would be Whitney, Mariah and Aretha.

I'm pretty sure I listed the criteria to judge from:
