That argument is seriously terrible. She 'skipped a grade' and so she wasn't nominated? MOST of the nominees in GRAMMY history are nominated because they come out with a huge first single (i.e. Alicia Keys, fun., Mariah). So "Big hit single = No BNA nom" is a really poorly-thought out argument from Jimmy Jam and I don't know why she's using it.

And arguing about noms is such a waste of time. Out of all the potential nominees, only 5 get nominated, and it's based 100% on GRAMMY voters taste. And you can't argue with someone's taste, so what's the point of ranting about it?

People need to ignore awardshows and critics, both suck drastically and both are just based on people's opinion/taste!

While I agree with you on all points to an extent there is a reason why awards and critical acclaim are coveted, they aren't necessary to have a wonderful career but for an artist to have that validation is a great thing and it often widens their audience, forcing people to take notice of them when they may not have before. It is a great thing to win but it isn't needed.
