Well it's because of the standards that society has set. Two women being together is usually considered attractive to men,and as you've stated women are accepted as more versatile when it comes to sexuality. We are also supposedly much more emotional and open about sharing our feelings.
Where as hetero men have different values that hold them back form being bi/experimental ,or whatever. Men often keep to themselves emotionally anyways. I'm sure a lot of guys have had a serious homosexual thoughts before, but have never voiced them to anyone. In this world you at least get curious and have to wonder about certain subjects when the opportunity presents itself.
There is no way not one man can say he hasn't thought of something gay before, even if it were something comedic or humorous, awkward , a bad dream etc. These things pop in your head, because somewhere you've either seen something,or felt a different emotion from the "norm". Men are just not as open emotionally a lot of the times..and that is a FACT

I have no ****ing clue why people think this, I cringe so hard when I hear people say that females only want to have emotional and deep sex while males only want to bust a nut + that females are complicated and a rare species while we are as simple as vanilla.
Like it is so ****ing stupid.
