Say Something" by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera rebounds from #38 to #18 in its third week. The song debuted at #16 two weeks ago. Digital sales rank: #6 (121K). The ballad is vying to become Aguilera's 11th top 10 hit. As you can see, Aguilera has co-equal billing on the hit. She had featured billing on Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" and Pitbull's "Feel This Moment." Is her part larger on this song than it was on those other two top 10 hits? Yeah, I didn't think so either.
Paul indicates that SS's coequaled billed to both Legend X, and A Great Big World (basically both are leads of the song). Do you agree that she doesn't play a larger part on SS than her other 2 recent top 10 hits? To me she's clearly a major duet partner, and it shows like in Say Say Say by Paul McCartney, & Michael Jackson (X's Michael of course).
Because of her subdued vocal on the harmonies she comes across as more of a supporting vocalist while the guy is singing lead, so to me it still kind of comes across as a featured duet partner than a co-artist. But clearly her part is way bigger than it was in MLJ.
