Catching Fire OST bombs due to lack of Taylor Swift
Quote:
The new "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack enters at No. 5 with 55,000. That's less than the 175,000 that greeted the first week of the first "Hunger Games" album in early 2012. It debuted at No. 1. The first "Hunger Games" soundtrack sported two contributions from Taylor Swift, which may have accounted for some of it its robust debut week. (Swift is not on the "Catching Fire" album.)
HG Soundtrack sold 175k 1st week yet it's now around 485k. All that tells me's that Taylor's got no longevity like when she made other soundtracks like Valentines Day actually flop. Hopefully CF's Soundtrack has some longevity.
Lacking a Taylor Swift track–or any notable single–the soundtrack to “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” settled for fifth with just 55,000 sales. The first “Hunger Games” soundtrack moved a far stronger 175,000.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack also sold far fewer copies of its second volume than its first, but the first slick's soundtrack also featured two Taylor Swift tracks.
Debuting at #5 is the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, with 55,000. It's less than the 175,000 for the soundtrack to the first film in early 2012, but that album (which debuted at #1) had two songs from Taylor Swift, who does not appear on Catching Fire.
