Just when 'Avril Lavigne' seemed like a failure of an era, Japan has come to the rescue again. After some small promotion in Japan, Avril Lavigne has taken over Tokyo city. Music shops are out in force as her album is the most consistent seller nation-wide at the moment. Despite 10 new releases from local acts in Japan this week, Avril Lavigne stays strong at #4 in the daily oricon chart in her third week sales, as well as being at #4 on the weekly Oricon chart. 'Avril Lavigne' peaked at #2 on Oricon, while 'Rock n Roll' peaked at #1 on the Recochoku singles chart. As a result Tokyo has been transformed into Avril Lavigne central by music stores hoping to continue the consistency of the album sales. 'Avril Lavigne' has currently sold 250,000 copies WW with 2 weeks worth of sales - 78,000 of those copies coming from the Japanese market.
