Actually, I was thinking about Judas a lot last night, and I realized Judas is to blame for EVERYTHING. It completely started the downward trajectory of her career. Imagine if TEOG had been the second single originally, instead of a rushed coverup for Judas? It could've gone #1 I bet. It would've probably gotten a better video. It would've done better on radio. Gaga wouldn't have been seen as aping Madonna's religious iconography + being blasphemous. The BTW era as a whole would've been so much better without Judas, which would've left Gaga in better standing for ARTPOP.
And let's not forget how much some people are complaining about the "messy lyrics" on ARTPOP (I don't have a problem with most of them, but whatever)... hmmm, I wonder what inspired Gaga to write messy lyrics? Perhaps her fans' constant praise (and we know damn well she lets fans influence her choices) for Judas, which features the lyrical genius of "ear condom" and generally harsh lyrics.
JUDAS RUINED EVERYTHING. JUDAS IS TRASH. GYPSY IS ALSO TRASH.
(jk Gypsy is at least listenable and sometimes enjoyable, much better than Judas)
It's all FACT

Not you betraying the good sis of religious-pop "Judas". Let's look at it's potential.
It debuted at #10 on the Hot 100 with 162,000 copies sold + 13 million AI. That was with just 2 and a half days of the tracking week left. Let’s assume that Gaga had been more reasonable, and released “Judas” in early May, after “Born This Way” had died, and after Easter, on a Monday so she could have the full tracking week. For this ~fantasy~, the 9th of May. Assuming she had the full week of sales + video premiere the same week + a first week promo performance (cause she didn’t have promo for the song until 2 weeks after it’s release), she could’ve easily done 350,000-400,000 first week (the #1 digital song that week, “Rolling In The Deep”, sold 353,000 copies). In it’s first week, “Judas” got a radio audience of 13 million AI. With a full week, it probably would’ve achieved what it actually did in it’s first week (36 million impressions). However, it’s kind of important to consider the fact that “Judas“‘s radio deal was messed up by it’s leak. Many radio stations that were scheduled to give the song top of the hour radio play for the first week got confused, so that messed things up a bit. I say it could’ve gotten 45-50 million impressions if it was released properly. So, if we were left with, let’s say, 385,000 copies sold and 53 million radio impressions, it most likely would’ve gone #1. and even if it didn’t, it still would’ve gone top 3. Couple this with occasional promo throughout May and June 2011 (like SNL, American Idol, Billboard Music Awards, etc), and in reality, “Judas” could’ve became one of 2011’s summer anthems. How about that?

"HEAAAAL ME" until the end of "MANiCURE" is basically what makes the song amazing, to be honest, even though I love the whole thing.

DWUW is one of her best singles and the only thing that could save the wreckage of an era, in fact DWUW her power can make any song on ARTPOP succesfull after it smashes WW.

The most desperate fantasy I've ever read You can all blame Easter as much as you want, but it wouldn't have changed much. And even if all the circumstances in your post had magically worked out to make it #1 for a week, it still would've been a flop when it tumbled down the charts as usual the next week.
There is literally no point debating this, Judas was dead on arrival. It's abrasive and ugly. I can't @ y'all dragging the Applause lyrics for being too weird for radio, yet think "fame hooker prostitute wench vomits her mind... wear ear condom next time" sounds like a SMASH
The problem with your theory is that you blame the leak for weak radio support, when that clearly didn't affect Applause in the end. Radios did not want to touch Judas with a ten foot pole.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a jerk but these types of delusions are contributing to Stefani's downfall. She reads what her fans want and thinks it's what the public wants/what will be successful. If fans had their way, Aura would've probably been a single The same fans who think Scheiße would've done better than Poker Face probably--again, the Applause lyrics are too weird for radios, but fake German gibberish isn't?

For real And to think, this song almost didn't make the record till Gaga realized she should call up R Kelly to finish it

Vespertine, you will NOT have me screaming right now.

She should release the solo version of DWUW on iTunes.
Even though I hate how she says the second verse, I love the lyrics.

dddd did I lie though?
I just find it so confusing the way monsters scream "Applause is too weird! The lyrics on ARTPOP are so abrasive! ugh I hate this bitch" yet simultaneously say Judas is her masterpiece
