THE NOSTALGIA THREADWhether you're a kid of the 80's, 90's, or even the early 00's, we all have fond memories of when we were younger. From the shows we used to watch on TV to old toys we used to be obsessed with and everything inbetween, we all have something to be nostalgic about. That's what this thread is about. Join the discussion and share with ATRL what your favorite memories were growing up!
Great thread idea. My favorite shows growing up were: Saved By The Bell, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Rugrats, Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, FRIENDS, Power Rangers, Art Attack, Arthur, Looney Toons, Clarissa Explains It All, Dexters Laboratory, Doug, The Simpsons, Goosebumps, Hey Arnold, Kenan & Kel, Recess, Mona The Vampire, Sister Sister!
(P.S I named a lot because I just googled 90's TV shows and listed all the ones I watched )
I watched those shows too! I was more of a Nickelodeon child growing up rather than a Cartoon Network or Disney Channel kid. I remember being obsessed with Rugrats and Hey Arnold.
Digimon, Pokemon, Cardcaptors, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu-Gi-Oh GX, Demon Headmaster, The Wild Thornberrys, Hey! Arnold, Fairly Odd Parents, Scooby Doo, were my favourites. I pretty much watched all of them though, everything on Disney to Cartoon Network to Nickelodeon to Fox Kids/Jetix.
Rugrats, As Told By Ginger, That's so Raven, Lizzie McGuire, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Braceface, The Wild Thornberries, Boy Meets World, Kenan and Kel, Power Puff Girls, Tiny Toon Adventures, Sabrina, All That, The Amanda Show, Kenan and Kel.
It's a lot of fun going back and watching these shows now that I'm older. Shows like Rugrats and Hey Arnold particularly, you pick up on a lot more subtle jokes that went over your head when you were little.
I totally forgot about the Nick Jr. lineup. I used to pretend to be sick all the time just so I could stay home from school and watch shows like Gullah Gullah Island and Little Bear

The amount of innuendos and adult humor they managed to slip into cartoons back then is astounding. If they tried that today, the Parents Television Council would have the show off the air within a day.

Rugrats: Search for Reptar and Rugrats: Studio Tour were amazing games. I never got a chance to play Rugrats in Paris though.

One show I was obsessed with growing up was The Nanny. All it takes is for me to hear the intro and I find myself wanting to watch the entire series again.

I was actually watching Powerpuff Girls last night. Johnny Bravo, Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Gargoyles, Little Bear, Blues Clues, Aladdin (I even had the game for the Super Ninetndo). Rugrats, Wishbone, Roseanne, Boy Meets World, Family Matters, The Nanny.
I remember rushing home on after school trying to catch those afternoon Cartoons, like The Animaniacs. Cartoons came on from 2-5 or 3-5. Then after that, the news came on and that was it until the next day. Saturday cartoons started at like 7 in the morning. I would watch them until like noon. Now it's different, there's like an X amount of channels playing the same damn thing three or four times, and DVR, YouTube, Netflix, etc.
I never developed a specific routine when it came to watching my shows until around 5th grade. I would come home, watch this show on NBC called Starting Over where middle aged women live in this house together while life coaches help them deal with their issues and at the end of the program the coaches decide if they pass or fail. Then I would watch Oprah, Supermarket Sweep, Shop Til You Drop, The Weakest Link, Sister Sister, and That's So Raven.
That was the beginning of my 'I'm too old for cartoons!' phase but still my ass was perched catching Proud Family reruns on the weekend.
I wish Supermarket Sweep and Shop Till You Drop would come back. Those gameshows were SO entertaining to watch.
