My personal trinity will always be Britney, Christina and Beyonce (even if I don't particularly like or listen to Bey)
I guess I agree with the 'current' trinity being Katy, Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
As for the future I'm thinking Taylor will be included in that. Not Miley.

I don't think Miley will have great success after Bangerz, but we'll see, maybe she'll reinvent herself again.
But I do think the 'pop girls wave' overall is kinda done.
It used to be very easy to get big being a young girl and making pop music, but that's changing fast.

I agree with this, I think the wave of Pop Girls is coming to a close, and we're again seeing a shift in what is being sold and played on radio. I think the girls that are able to change their sounds into some less dance-Pop and something more alternative can make it. I'm sure by the end of this decade we'll see a HUGE change in the music scene.
Lady GaGa and Katy Perry might not even be near the top of the decade charts

On the topic of "trinity" I never really understood that? Why does it only have to be the top 3 female artists? I think the days of even having a "trinity" are over. I think the future of pop music is becoming over-crowded and 3 artists can't stay on top long enough to be considered as a trinity. With more indie acts crossing over to the mainstream and the rise of viral acts and one-hit wonders, the top 3 are becoming more and more inter-changeable.
In regards to the specific artists you mentioned in the OP, Gaga, Katy, Rihanna.. Yes I think that each have had huge success over these recent years however there are also artists such as Adele, Beyonce and most recently Miley who you could also argue fit into that top 3 trinity position. This is why I don't consider there to be a trinity, there are too many females that are eligible to be in the top 3 and nobody can really predict who will fall out or under-perform next, e.g ARTPOP.

This is accurate - though Bey and Taylor definitely have to be somewhere.

I agree with the trinity now, though in a few years it'll be Ellie Goulding, Miley Cyrus, and Azealia Banks

Why does everyone forget Taylor Swift, she has slayed all the pop girls for years now.
The trinity is Taylor, Rihanna, and Katy.
Adele and Miley need more than one successful era to be considered.
Pop music is def in trouble right now, the previous trinity (brit, bey, gaga) and current trinity aren't ruling much at the moment.

The real trinity of the current female pop stars will be revealed in 20 years when only a few crusty vags will still be singing/performing.

I think people who say that pop music is on the decline are ridiculously overreacting. Pop music has been a mainstay in the music world for decades, and I don't see it going anywhere. I do agree that the main pop girls will have to adjust their music a bit to remain slaying on the charts, but I don't think any of them will completely give up dance pop altogether.
As for the main pop girl trinity, I've never been able to choose a trinity. All of the pop girls bring something different to the table. Ke$ha's style is rock and electropop; Kelly, Taylor, and Carrie are all pop and country; Katy, Britney, Gaga and Christina are pure pop; Rihanna is urban and pop; P!nk is pop-rock; Adele is Pop / Soul; and Bey is R&B and Pop.
They represent so many subgenres in Pop that it's impossible for me to pick one lone trinity.
As for Miley, it'll be interesting to see where her career goes from here. I feel like Bangerz was a step outside the norm for her musically, and we might see a return to normal pop (Can't Be Tamed, The Climb, etc) in her next era.
