I'm not surprised The Voice is doing better at giving songs promo. American Idol was nothing but an Alumni fest this past season.
The Voice helped Cassadee's single go to #3 on iTunes and #37 on the Hot 100. America's Got Talent got it back on the Hot 100 and then a snippet of Cassadee's video helped it go back to the Top 60 on the Hot 100 and it's still on the Hot 100 at this point.
It also helped Brave finally enter the Top 30 on the Hot 100. and Counting Stars debuted at the Top 40 thanks to their performance with Michelle Chamuel. I Want Crazy went Top 20 thanks to Hunter performing with Danielle and Moves Like Jagger probably got a big influence as well.
Idol of course is better at launching careers, in the music industry or in the film industry. Idol is better at connecting the contestants with the public. I like the Voice too, but I find it annoying that people compare it to American Idol. When the Voice debuted, they were comparing its ratings and criticizing Idol's ratings even though it was past it's tenth season. I just find it absurd. Idol had a higher peak than the voice (excluding inflated ratings from the Super Bowl). Idol is a legacy, let's see if the Voice will be in the future . . . And let's see how the Voice ratings in its tenth year compare to Idol's tenth year.

The ratings of the whole format is dying so we cannot really compare. IMO Idol is still da best
