Radio overplayed it so it was obvious that people would get sick of it (I wish they would've done the same with WMU which is trash too) but the genre as a whole isn't dead.
Dance music is more popular now than it has ever been. Dance music will always have a place in the world, even if it's no longer called "EDM" or played on the radio.
