indie/alt focus until maybe 2017 or 2018 but with all around more diversity musically than we've been seeing, and a rise in urban music slowly until a mainstream comeback in 2017/2018

I think it's a cycle, in the 80's pop music was more disco, then it slowed down until 2008. Now in 2013 pop music is getting more slow with less EDM influences so by 2016 pop music will definitely be more slow and with urban and alternative influences. In 2 decades pop music will be more EDM or Disco-influenced, and the same will happen again. It's just like fashion.

I think it'll go back to sounding like old school 70 and 80s music just with futuristic adaptations to them.

Now, music lovers of all genre's are contributing to mainstream music. Where-as before, artists were force-fed by radio, which is why pop used to be a lot bigger than it is now.
