To her liking/under her control =/= personal. Personal album means that the songs tell stories about herself. The songs that belong to her and can't belong to anyone else. Sorry these snippets don't sound personal/raw/vulnerable(thematically) to me. Those songs could be done by anyone else which is the opposite of personal.

If this is real voice of her, she should have stayed auto-tuned. Sorry.

I am not faking interest. I love most of her catalog. I will definitely be using some new songs from this as well. I was being objective.

Sorry but you have to deal that she sounds worse than usual to me. She sounds like someone else which is worse than her. I doubt she is rehearsing often outside the studio.

I do believe the part of a song being personal meaning that it expresses some truths about an artist, yet given that you don't know anything about her personal life over the last couple of years, you don't know that these songs don't resonate personally with her or come from a personal place -- and, again, couldn't even begin to speculate on this because we don't have the full album. Just because you individually think that "anyone" could have recorded some of these songs doesn't make it any less personal. And all we've heard are clips, so the fact that there have been so many preliminary "reviews" and final judgments made about this album already is absolutely ridiculous at this point.

The assertion I'll never understand is that people think at this point that if she's not singing explicitly about her conservatorship or her woes of 2007 or the trials and tribulations that the public is particularly aware of, she must not be having any deep connection with her songs or have written any of them from a personal place. It's the same way that someone who sings an album full of depressing ballads cannot really be proven to have any personal connection to these songs, despite the general belief that sad emotive songs = personal. Listening to an album in full and making a judgment call based on your personal tastes is one thing, but the influx of negative posts in the album thread coming from people who act as if they've heard the final product are just as asinine as the people who are praising it to the high heavens without having heard it. True objectivity wouldn't utilize 30 second snippets to make such a decided judgment call on the whole album's level of cohesiveness, lyrical content or overall production values (vocal or otherwise), because there's not enough evidence to support any of that. End of story.

I can't @ people crying and whining saying this isn't a personal album. Just come right out and say it: you want her to sing about 2007 and her dark days. She isn't. She never will. She has chosen to leave all of that behind her as all of you should.
