I am a bit sick of people acting like the ARTPOP era is some MAJOR FLOP compared to other ones.
Let's take a trip down memory lane shall we...
Rated R: 2009 (fresh off of a 8 million selling breakthrough album and a world wind of controversy)
Sold 3 million (if that)
181,000 copies in its first week
First single peaked at #9 on the Hot 100.
Second single peaked at #8 on the Hot 100 and bombed worldwide.
Third single COMPLETELY BOMBED EVERYWHERE.
Tour only grossed $40 million
At least it was acclaimed and had a #1 single. Something the ARTFLOP era is never getting.
Say Something will be huge. Legend X got a bigger boost out of her music video than Katy. I mean, how much AI does Say Something even have? Looks like 2013-2014 will be Xtina her Emancipation of Mimi moment.
Year and decade end lists are way more important than Metacritic.
Totally agree. when the music has had a chance to grow on (or off) people you get another perspective.. getting some distance often changes and refines the immediate opinion of the sings
I'm just praying that BJ numbers aren't that tragic and her label can put Alien as the 3rd single. I can already imagine the video with a lifeless Britney (she will nail this) falling from the sky at the beggining and then doing an embarassing but cool (again, she will nail this) otherworldly choreography.
Rated R also followed GGGB: Reloaded which makes it flopping even funnier. But Rih has recovered from that. Meanwhile, Gaga is writing songs titled "Onion Girl" and is only getting worse and worse it seems. I have faith in her. She is desperate for success and fame so hopefully Vincent can keep her on a leash.
