Production costs/studio time aside, the rest of the original list you were referring to is MOST CERTAINLY all classified as promotion. And it cost millions to make happen.
There. Explained.
Let me know if you need anything else.
So of the other two items I pointed out, how does an app that Interscope wouldn't have even fronted—likely Gaga herself or her company—factor into promotional costs? Her entourage? Her makeup artist and friends? Terry Richardson? Again, none of those things are on Interscope's payroll.
Gaga will get past this. Not saying she's a legend, but those that are legends now, have had this phase: controversy, negative publicity, constant media attacks, mediocre reviews, backlash, under performance. She will be fine.
The only difference here is that ArtPop doesn't scream "future cult classic" or "overlooked masterpiece." It's... basic guys lol so it's rightfully deserved considering the amount of hype she likes to create. But this is but a moment. Another mistake she'll learn and she'll continue to climb and fall throughout her career.
