I don't get what is there to hate about red box tbh. It's great if you want to rent a movie that you will see in the same day or the day after. No one is here for renting a movie for $4 to be able to see it for 3 days I mean
TRASH tbh! I only tried it because of the free one month trial giving unlimited streaming and four DVDs. The unlimited streaming is trash, not much movies to watch. Don't get me started on the Red box itself to rent hard copies. Out of the 4 times I went to rent a movie, the debit card scanner only worked once. The other times I kept trying for at least 3 minutes and nothing. There are not many new movies too. I have had a Blockbuster store subscription for the last 3 years and will continue to so so for $15 a month.
It's alright, but I much prefer just to stream now via Netflix or rent directly from OnDemand, since those are usually available sooner. Every time I go visit my mother in West Texas though, we always get like 5 movies from Redbox and marathon them. They usually have some random, straight to DVD messes as well as recent releases, so some of those can actually be kind of fun to discover.
How can you hate a system that gives you (usually) up-to-date movies for literally pocket change? And they have games and show tickets!? If Netflix and GameFly didn't exist, I'd be everyday at RedBox...
Reactions like this make me I forget that Redbox is not some international thing.
But seriously, not all of the movies on Redbox are available to stream online via Netflix or whatever. It does serve a purpose and not everyone wants to go hunting down illegal downloads either.
I like it but I still wish blockbuster was a thing! I mean that place was my childhood. Movie renting, popcorn, candy, and soda all in one place. it was the go-to for a lot of friday get togethers
