again, the only area it's a step backwards in are lyrics. sonically, vocally, and conceptually (album wise, not indiv songs), it's a solid progression.
furthermore, i think you're wrong because most people (not me, perhaps not you) were asking for "fun" gaga back and that's exactly what we got.. and more.

You do know there is a thing called being to serious and dark, right? Its a nice switch for her to go the fun and shallow route since her past two efforts have been dark and she hasn't visited this side of herself musically since The Fame era.
She has even said that this is basically a more mature version of The Fame and that the album is happy. If she continued to be dark and serious in a consistent manner then even more people would either jump ship or get bored.

Oh I just saw this, it's actually pretty damn cool. But to be perfectly honest + blunt, this type of choreo totally exceeds Gaga's abilities, even if they did some heavy editing/quick cuts in a video. But I agree with the sentiment, I would definitely love to see her do a simple but stunning dance video someday!! (with way better choreo than TEOG... you need really strong/memorable moves for that type of video)
Does anyone else actually really love the Sexxx Dreams choreo though? From what we've so far, it's cool, memorable, and Gaga was able to execute it pretty well (at least to my untrained eye)

They actually seem more in the vein of the legendary "Monster" and "Dance in the Dark' to me.
I think she should do a "Best of" album at some point in her career that includes those two underrated masterpieces right next to the ARTPOP tracks. And I know the fanbase LOVES them, but they're underrated in my mind because they both deserved to be career-defining songs for Gaga.
