Mariah didn't join idol for the $ or publicity- she doesn't need that at this point in her life. She joined for the experience, which was completely ruined by adding a second girl that threatened her [Mariah's] life and generated a bunch of negative drama.
She wasn't threatened by Nicki's presence, she was threatened by her gun.
Mariah was simply annoyed with the situation. Nicki is a very obnoxious person and throughout all of AI it was pretty clear that she was always trying to one-up Mariah in some way or another. It was tedious and MC knew how it was gonna go down the moment she found out Nicki was gonna be on the panel. If you're forced to work with someone you don't like you're not gonna have a good time. I doubt Mariah would have agreed to participate had she known that they were gonna throw in a surprise 4th member.

The "adding second girl" issue is something that has nothing to do with Nicki - she cannot be blamed for it - she can't possibly know before she joined that Mariah didn't want another female on the Idol panel.
In other words it was Mariah who drew first blood by her unwelcome/hostile reception of the newcomer.
