Did Rihanna scalp Katy & Gaga?
With her latest album, "Unapologetic", the so called singles artist debuted atop the Billboard Charts with 238K copies.
Her fourth release in as many years, it was not announced until August, its lead single didn't premiere until late September, it had no hype to sell out from nor did it had promotion except a performance of "Diamonds" and "Stay" at Saturday Night Live. It also didn't have a super successful era to back it up as Talk That Talk, despite producing the 11 weeks #1 smash "We Found Love", only had one more top 5 single, "Where Have You Been".
A year has passed, and her contemporaries Katy and Gaga, which both had tremendous hype, came off of a 8 smash singles (6 of them, #1s) and a 1M debut eras and had extensive promo only opened with 286K and 260K respectively. "Roar", despite its push, was #1 only for two weeks (as many as "Diamonds"), and Gaga's single didn't even neared the top.
A few weeks from now Britney will release her album, and for sure it doesn't seem like she will measure up neither.
I mean, that Rihanna reign just won't let up, have your tea please.

She's up there.
I think she scalped Gaga but how did she do the same with Katy? Katy will outsell her in singles and album sales... not sure about tour.

More weeks at #1 =/= more successful. I mean, Poker Face was #1 for a week and was bigger than both songs mentioned.

Both Katy and Gaga's era are just starting, we'll see how it pans out in the end

The point there is that while its promo was various times bigger than that for "Diamonds", "Roar" didn't manage to outpeak the former.

When does she not?
Rih is consistent at WORST. Consistency is something the Pop girls strive for but that is not something Rih settles for. When she puts forth the effort, her reign is easily the most dominant. With no re-releases (not including GGGB), she is able to match and/or succeed longer promoted eras, singles and album sales wise.
The effortless scalpage is undeniable.

lol
Katy won't outsell UA WW.
Nor will she come close to matching RIh's touring success.
GaGa and Britney's predicted under-performance has gotten all of you overrating Katy's star power.

Roar already outsold Diamonds despite both getting insane airplay and Katy sold more than any Rihanna album opening week wise with her 3rd release, so what are you attempting here.
