Former X Factor USA judge Nicole Scherzinger has laid into Simon Cowell after the show’s ratings slumped below the 4million viewer mark.

While The X Factor UK has been making headlines for losing its ratings war with Strictly Come Dancing in recent weeks, it isn’t doing nearly as bad as the Stateside edition of the talent contest, which has shed more than 7million viewers in three years.

The first live shows of its current run drew just 4.54million and 3.64million viewers – compared to 10.39million and 12.09million for the equivalent episodes of its first season.

To add to the embarrassment, it is trailing behind rival show The Voice – which regularly pulls in more than 10million viewers across the pond.

The falling numbers are said to have caused a crisis at Cowell’s production company Syco, with XFUSA broadcaster Fox thought to be preparing to swing the axe.

And even Scherzinger – who was on its original judging panel before she transferred to XFUK last year – has taken a swipe at the media mogul on the matter.

She told The Sun newspaper: “Simon honey, you need to worry about those ratings in the US! Our show is way better than the American one.”

Meanwhile, an X Factor USA source blamed the matter on the World Series baseball finals, which forced it to take a three week break.

It suffered a mishap last week when incorrect voting details were given for every single contestant during their first live performances – with bosses making them sing again the next night.

Cowell left his on-screen role on The X Factor UK in 2010 to allow him to launch the US version, which he once predicted would attract audiences of 20million.

Reports recently claimed that ITV have offered him a big-money deal to return.

Nt this year is the worse I've seen since I started watching in 2008. This season sucks. Eating might be better in the UK but the show this year

The UK show is better than the US one? The US one might have terrible ratings but the overall talent on the US one is far better this season and this is coming from someone who prefably likes the UK version overall more. This season is just a bore for the UK imo. I see a couple of acts in the US version who could also make a career out of them after the show.

And chances are she'll be booted off the UK show this season if the rumours are true

You sound so bitter and venomous. There's no confirmation that Nicole was dropped by her label or any suggestion that she's being fired from X Factor.

If the rumors were actually true (and they most likely aren't since it was Gary's own decision to leave, Sharon has only signed up for one season, and Louis can't seem to part ways with the franchise), then it would be everyone BUT Nicole being booted off of the UK show. And Nicole's split from her label (nor her signing to another) hasn't even been confirmed.

SS is already out. Ellona is completely unmarketable and Alex & Sierra will flop hard. The entire show is like a circus act.
