Why Did Bey's Celebrity & Legendary Status Grow After 4?
Infamously on ATRL, "4" is known as a flop album. It had no Top 10 singles, only sold 3 million albums WW, and it's lead single, "Run The World," was a chart disappointment.
Yet, it seems that her legendary status and celebrity has grown exponentially since then.
Her tour is breaking records worldwide, she is still being offered incredibly large endorsement deals, things such as her lip-sync scandal, Cuba trip, and haircut is made worldwide national news, and of course, the Superbowl happened.
Why is she growing so much compared to her peers who exceeded greatly in the early 2000's (Alicia, Usher, Avril, Christina), but seemed to downsize after their "flop" albums...
Someone logically explain.

4 was her Bionic, according to ATRL, remember? Opening with only 310,000 and going on a soon to be 200M tour prove that.

Cause of her personal life, her work had little to do with it.

Her tour alone has almost doubled in it's success, she will definitely hit 200 million and be the first of her peers to do so.
Her endorsements since 4 have been some of her biggest, look at Pepsi for example..

You can't be serious, the Mrs Carter tour already outgrossed the I am tour with half of the dates and it will clearly gross more than $200m, I don't see any of her peers doing that.

I don't think her celeb status has grown tbh. But I do think she keeps growing and getting close to a legendary status.

Because she's reached legend status. She succeeded where others failed.

It didn't. Only her fans think that.
She's always been a megastar. Her absence is just making people hungry... especially since most other pop girls are giving lackluster singles and albums.

She launched a personal website and started up a Twitter account. Her social presence has grown and hence why it seems she is so prevalent in our lives. More chances to promote, more chances to reach out to her fans, more etc.
Other than that, her status has remained stagnant.

She has a reputation for her performing abilities which is why she does so well on tour. People are willing to pay because they know for a fact she's fantastic and they will enjoy themselves. To me, Beyonce has this image of a diva who doesn't accept anything that isn't larger than life... And you even see it in the whole production of her current tour. Everything about it is over the top and overzealous but in the best way. It's captivating. People know she really puts on a show.
Not sure how to explain the other things you mentioned.

I don't think her status has grown per say because of "4". Bey has always been a huge superstar and while yes her tour and endorsements may have gotten bigger imo the only thing that significantly grew was her personal life.
- She had a high profile pregnancy, is married to a rap mogul, and is opening up more to the GP through social media by sharing her life experiences on Tumblr & IG. If anything that has helped her become a notable American icon (Superbowl/ Inauguration) but thats not directly due to some groundbreaking album.

This basically sums it up.
I think people understand that what she does is something that very few popstars do. It's no secret that she is a powerhouse and so she is respected for her abilities.
I think to some extent while people didn't take to 4, it didn't damage her career because the music didn't seem try-hard or desperate for chart success. Had catered to the trends, I think her reputation would have been lowered after 4. It'd be like if Barbra Streisand released a CD with Pitbull features. She'd be ridiculed for it. But if she released a CD of music she wanted to make and it was good, even if it didn't sell well she would still be sitting fine as a legend. But since Beyonce is still young and active, she is growing after 4's "underperformance."

I do think the tumblr and the site has helped, but aside from her fans and people who follow pop music, is her personal site really that relevant? Her tumblr is basically the only social media she uses aside from an occasional instagram. If she is this big after a "flop" album because of social alone, think how big she'd be if she used twitter, was active on Instagram, etc.
It's not just her social presence that has sold millions of tickets around the world. It's her reputation and her skills as an artist that is keeping people interested in her. I can't think of one album that flopped but that gave the artist more success after it, without having to release a new hit album to get back to where they were.

Social Media + her openness in her relationship.
Besides that she hasn't grown that much imo. Musically, I have not heard from her since the SuperBowl.

Lol how exactly did her marriage to Jay increased her status, when most people in the mainstream know Jay z as Bey's husband? The only thing jay gave Bey is "street credibility"
And no one claimed that her status increased because of any groundbreaking album. The question how has she grown in status after the underperformance of 4
Thirdly having a baby could sometimes be a hinderance for a career in music.Bey's case is one of the few exception to the rule.
