I was just listening to Stronger and it still sounds fresh! He was so ahead of his time and still is when it comes to music, he is a rap visionary. He was one of the first to incorporate electronic into rap and he was one of the first artists of the 'autotune' trend. (Not that that's the best thing, but he does try things before they become popular) I don't know it just seems like he's one of the rappers that will be remembered most from this generation for his artistry and his... personality lol.

No. He's a rap icon, but not even a music icon in general. Kanye doesn't represent a period in time of music, let alone transcend time. At this rate, he probably won't even be an icon when all is said and done.

I would say an icon is more representative of a period in time of music. A legend on the other hand would be a bit more innovative.

I want to say he is both a legend (at least in the rap genre) and an icon, but I feel like this is something that really has to be discussed seriously, with time, and once a somewhat concrete definition can be established for those terms (with some flexibility, of course).

My fave is actually a legend and Kanye has achieved nothing in comparison.
