Sis, if you're denying that Katy is a big popstar then you're delusional or pressed. I can see where people are coming from when they say Ke$ha isn't big if they're speaking in terms of worldwide success but in the US she definitely is/was huge. Warrior might have flopped here but she still has the star power, the name recognition, and the hit potential, she just has to fix whatever it was that turned the GP off from her singles post-"Die Young"

Anyway, I think the answer is Carly in 2014, when she releases her next lead single . No, I dunno, I kind of get the feeling it's someone we already know about and maybe they're big in Europe (e.g. Rita Ora), coming off a moderately successful debut that didn't really establish them as major stars yet (e.g. Ariana Grande, maybe even Carly), or being brandished in the studio as we speak (e.g. Bonnie McKee, Becky G). I doubt it'll be Lorde; I can't see any of her other hits being hits on the pop charts but who knows. She could easily be big on the Alternative and Triple-A stations, though.

Also, Adele has three Hot 100 number ones off a single album and another Top 10 single. She's a major pop star. Miley is debateable.

I don't consider Adele a popstar because she's a vocalist. She doesn't do upbeat, fun music. That would be like calling Amy Winehouse a popstar. I don't consider Taylor or Nicki popstars because neither of them are mainly pop singers. Taylor is still a country artist and Nicki is a rapper. They're all three huge, obviously. But not "popstars". That's not a bad thing, but that's just how I see it. They're in different lanes.

It looked like we'd have Carly briefly last year after her 1.5 hits. Too bad about those album sales.

Ke$ha needs to pick it back up for her third era if she wants to stay a big pop girl. Right now, I definitely still consider her one.
