Like, I really don't understand the reviews because the album is so good. It's such a cohesive body of work. She dabbles into a couple of different genres, but across the album there's similar themes, ideas and imagery present. Granted, I don't care for a couple of the later songs, but the album up to DWYW + Swine + Dope + Applause (+ it's remixes) is flawless enough to give the gyal a solid 4/5 at least.

It's just a damn good album. I can't stop listening to it.

But that's my favorite song tho.

It's definitely one of my favorites on the album too, but the performances so far have been really messy to say the least.

Since it was rush-released instead of Venus, Gaga didn't seem to have enough time to sort out choreography for the song.

Here's my final ranking after a few days of listening to the album -

1. Aura - 3/5 (hate the first verse, love the rest of the song)
2. Venus - 3/5 (love the pre chorus + chorus, the rest is trash trash TRASH)
3. G.U.Y - 5/5 - Single material
4. Sexxx Dreams - 5/5 - Again, single material (although I think I like the live version slightly better)
5. Jewels & Drugs - 4/5 - Like it but it has low replay value for me
6. MANiCURE - 4/5 - I actually really like how diverse this album is. Love the rock vibe
7. Do What U Want - 5/5 - Good stuff. I like how she's channeling Xtina
8. ARTPOP - 5/5 - Probably the best song on the album imo, Simple & careless
9. Swine - 3/5 - I loved it at first listen but now I have to be in a certain mood to enjoy it (kinda like most of BTW)
10. Donatella - 5/5 - Excellent gym song, potentially single material
11. Fashion! - 5/5 - Love this one as well. Never should've doubted will.i.am
12. Mary Jane Holland - 5/5 - Excellent (although the bridge irks me a bit)
13. Dope - 1/5 - Trash
14. Gypsy - 5/5 - It's scary how much I can relate to this, since I am a TCK
15. Applause - 4/5 - It's grown on me but not enough to give it 5/5 stars

Overall: 4.1/5

I don't expect it to be a commercial success at all considering recent developments

Anyhow I am here for the music and she delivered in this aspect so she can do whatever she wants. I'll be bopping to DONATELLAAAAAA in the meantime




(I just hope she doesn't ruin her career to the point where Interscope does not let her release another album)
