This kind of reminds me of a case my dad worked.
This family had a kid, a girl.. I think, and she had a mental illness. They physically chained her to bed every night. Wouldn't really feed her. They just didn't really like the girl at all. Well, one night, she had pee'd the bed earlier that night. I don't remember the details, but apparently the house caught on fire. They ended up leaving her chained to the bed while they left and she later burned alive in the house.
