Glee brought out all the big diva guns Thursday night, with New Directions covering Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, plus Adam Lambert making his debut on the cast.
And yet: Ratings fell to tie the show’s all-time low, registering only 4 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in the adult demo. Glee has previously had this rating, but it was on the night before Thanksgiving last year, which in the TV ratings universe is a quasi-holiday. So this is the first time Glee has fallen this low during a non-holiday-week telecast.
Of course, baseball has pre-empted Glee in recent weeks, so the musical comedy is returning after a break. But its last episode was the highly rated Cory Monteith tribute, so last night’s episode was down 46 percent from that.
2 things that shock me:
1) they had Gaga & Katy songs + Adam Lambert & Demi Lovato acting/singing + a month of promotion.
2) they still have like 2 seasons to go... They'll be pulling in 1.2 million viewers by the time it's dead.
It`s not that bad consider XFactor got a 1.2 last night. Lol.
I`m pretty sure Glee is still a profitable show in advertising, even more than some 2s show. Not to mention it`s huge worldwide fan.
That said, i miss the time when my favorite show dominated the ratting, was the second highest TV show advertising just behind American Idol and Itune invasion every week. The move to Thusday really kill the show much faster.I just hope that after it ends, Glee will somehow become a cult classic.
Not surprising at all, ratings have been falling since season 3 started. Though you guys are still trying it as the quality of the show is maintained at a great level. The fan base for the show and its cast is still massive and it's still slaying in other ways, so you guys can keep laughing.
