Lady Gaga record label bosses pressurise star to ditch controversial Princess Diana song from new album ARTPOP



Lady Gaga has been pressured into ditching the controversial song she wrote about Princess Diana’s death. The tastefully titled Princess Die was planned as one of the tracks on ARTPOP but worried record company bosses urged her to leave it off.

Gaga, 27, performed the song at a concert in Twickenham last year during her 'Born This Way Ball' tour and told a somewhat sceptical crowd that it was her way of paying homage to the royal, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

At the gig she said: “Since I was a very young girl, the People’s Princess was the most important person in me and my mother’s life.“I predict controversy but I don’t care. Let’s take a moment to appreciate her presence.”



The inspiration came from fashion label Louis Vuitton sending Gaga a tiara in the post, which is very regal indeed.

But sources say that the 2011-penned tune did not go down too well with her record label Streamline and parent firm Interscope. I’m told: “Gaga was passionate about Princess Die and, though she admitted it wasn't her best, she still wanted it on the album.

“But after the adverse reaction it got from fans in the UK when she sang it at her gigs last year, the record company bosses stepped in. They persuaded her to remove it from the album to keep the peace. There is still a lot of emotion over Princess Di.”

The singer has tried to make light of the omission, telling bemused fans the song “isn’t as good as the other songs”
written for the new album, ARTPOP, which is released on Monday, November 11 at midnight around the world.

No one said she didn't. This is about Princess Die and its controversy in Britain. Although my good sis Queen Elizabeth II owns Australia, I don't think the Aussie's care that much. In fact, they're slacking this era as well. Get 'em together!
