It doesn't surprise me at all though that people are outraged about these girls but act nonchalant about Julianne Hough and everyone else dressed up in blackface and Native American costume.
There is no difference, millions of people died in slavery and millions died in the Native American genocide. A lot more than 9/11. But it doesn't matter since they're not white.

I'm not going to warn you for expressing a rather incendiary opinion. I will say, however, that it's not a matter of forgetting, but a matter of context. 9/11 was twelve years ago; compared to the atrocities that befell not just Black and Native populations, but also Latino and Asians (but all well over a hundred years ago), 9/11
just happened. It makes sense that it would be fresher in mind, because it's something most living people (in the US especially) experienced firsthand.
