First of all, I didn't say you didn't do your research. I said you're making a bunch of claims without backing them up with any evidence. It would actually be interesting to see those scientific articles. I don't do documentaries, they're usually questionable because of how they typically portray their material; it's really just propaganda tbh. I also never said anything about those who actually DO act out on their pedophiliac tendencies. I do think consequences should be severe in those situations.

If experts agree it is a phenomenon caused mostly by psycho-social factors rather than having a biological component, wouldn't this be a perfect issue for the field of psychiatry and psychology to tackle and research in terms helping those who suffer from it. If the psycho-social component rings true, wouldn't these people be victims of circumstance that need to be helped? Especially for those who have no intention of acting out their desires? I understand the root of your concern based on your friend's struggle and your personal experiences but frankly, I don't care. That's exactly what they are, personal experiences which introduce bias to a field that shouldn't be biased. If you do actually study psychology, you should know how the field is ridiculed for its lack of a foundation and inability to standardize methods. We're riddled with constant change (like those in the DSM) that shake the foundation and we certainly don't need personal bias' shaking it further. Pedophilia is under the sexual dysfunctions category within the paraphilia umbrella for a reason. If we had no intention but prosecution of these individuals, it wouldn't be in the DSM. A portion of personality disorders are difficult to treat and are stressful/detrimental to those around them but we still attempt to help them out. I feel passionate about the subject because I find social stigmas of those with psychological disorders to be unacceptable.

Your second paragraph is made null by the fact that it isn't curable and barely treatable which you read in my post so, no, not gonna bother. And if you'd bothered to even google the documentary you'd see that it is set in a facility designed to treat and comfortably house pedophiles outside of normal society in a safe envrionment designed to try and help them overcome their urges, so don't try to come at me with point's I've already addressed just because you don't like documentaries, it isn't American btw so the bias is seriously diminished, you didn't even google Louis Theroux to see how reliable he is
