I wonder what the interviewer asked her to evoke that answer; since Britney and Amy are perfect examples of what you don't want to happen to you if you become famous. I'm sure there's plenty of celebrities that would have said the same thing

Amy Jade's troubles far exceeded those of "promiscuous pop star with the fame and money, drawn to the dark side of hollywood". Amy had her own demons which is why everything sort of spiralled out of control like that. I really am getting sick and tired of this child.
I'm a big Amy Winehouse fan. I have no prblem with what she said about Amy. Amy's death should be a lesson to all young people about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. Amy made an album about her abuses (both drug and sexual) called "Back to Black". Many of the songs on the album was about what Lorde was saying. I'm glad that a young person has sense enough to realize it before it happens to them, I wish Amy had realized it before it happened to her. Recently had the Glee member die because drug abuse. Thanks Lorde keep speaking out and maybe someone will follow your lead.

Nothing wrong with the point she was trying to make but she should really stop name dropping Britney, who is still an active artist in the same industry that she is currently in, very untasteful.
All I gather from this is that Lorde doesn't see herself mentally malfunctioning later down the road because she was not exposed to the ills common in stars who had troubled upbringings.
I don't see it as dissing Britney or Amy. Did they or did they not completely lose themselves at one point? One is under court ordered surveillance and the other is no longer living.

As a Britney stan, i am not denying the 2007 breakdown. Non-stans like you need to be educated that it was not just bec of fame but she alo has a mental disorder. I find it distasteful coz when Britney started out, she was not shading other artists to get an attention. Even now, shading others or being too proud of herself and achievements is not her thing.
