How exactly did ''ARTPOP'' sell 18k copies in the first day in Japan when this was published 5 hours before the day of 6 November ended in Japan? They're still 1 hour left into 6 November...

That's pretty disappointing considering Japan is one of Gaga's strongest markets. 
This album better have longevity at least

Those are Tuesday's sales. It was released on Tuesday, Nov 5.

Really bad numbers for both of them tbh. Both sold like 40k for their last album in the first day.

You do know 14 k first DAY sales in Japan for a western artist is a huge commercial success?! Goodbye Lullaby sold 130k in its first week. That is an impossible feat. really. I dunno how she did it last era. I was expecting more, but it's still a huge commercial success.
TBH Lady Gaga and Avril's teams have been stupid. Two white pop girl western artists releasing on the same day, and are the biggest stars in Japan at the moment? Obviously they would impact on each other's sales. Gaga should have released next week instead of this week tbh.....

Japan is the only market that Avril can rely on now, and the number so far is so bad

I meant to say the sales count. The bulk of first day sales are preoders going live.
And considering Prism sold 14596 in the first week and only moved 8900 more after Music Station promo, I'd say Avril and Gaga are still tops in JP.

MESS..... 11 years she's having a career, Let Go, UMS, and TBDT went Diamond, and Goodbye Lullaby is about Double platinum at this stage. The fact she's doing such huge sales, better than the new modern girls with hype, STILL, is amazing. Gaga is 5 years in, and is doing similar sales to Avril who is 11 years into her career. So tbh, Avril is doing fine. She's a legend in Japan already. She can't uphold huge frontloaded sales all the time. Besides Goodbye Lullaby had What The Hell which is Avril's most successful single in Japan ever. This album had RNR which didn't do as well as say WTH and Girlfriend. Plus Avril did no promo, and taking into consideration she's 11 years into her career, and outselling the likes of Katy Perry, Rihanna there with ONE day sales, you cannot call it bad in any matter. Disappointing for Avril? Debatable... bad? No.
