10. Kirk Morrison - He gets a mention here because he came back to poker after a 5 year hiatus. Some of his notables include 2nd at the 2007 WPT Championship, 55th in the 2007 WSOP Main Event and several cashes.....but more importantly, I think he is Comeback Poker Player of the year and I guess Comeback Male personality of the year (the female being Dolores O'Riordan). He scored over $2.3M in 2007.
9. Rihanna Fenty - This Barbados beauty has done a lot in just a short time. Released an addicting song in Umbrella for starters and the word of mouth from her was the reason she is here. Good Girl Gone Bad may not be a big seller (better than Soulja Boy & T-Pain) but she has the consistency to sell.
8. Mike Lowell - What the Red Sox did in 2007 was textbook domination in the World Series. They also had the lead in the AL East for a long time, not allowing the Yankees to get it. I chose Mike Lowell because I believe he was the World Series MVP, helping shut down the Colorado Rockies 4-0 in the World Series.
7. Aly & A.J. - If there were an award for consistent duo, this team would get it hands down. For the 2nd year they're the highest finishing duo on the endchart and in cuteness. Their biggest hit was Potential Breakup Song which was nowhere near as good as Rush. Still, these girls rock! Why I chose them? Cuz they are hot!
6. Tom Schneider - OK, why did I put him higher than Aly & A.J.? Simple, he came out of nowhere. What he did was truly remarkable. He won 2 WSOP bracelets to win the 2007 WSOP player of the year, almost won a WPT title, and he is a former stand-up comedian. TC, Steven, Ryan and Ben, you'll like this guy. He's very funny and loves to have fun....but takes his poker very seriously.
5. Miley Cyrus - The youngest person on this list at 15 years old. With her new video Start All Over, you don't wanna mess around. She could have a huge 2008 if her song See You Again dominates the pop charts. Miley has that strong Disney fanbase behind her, and Hannah Montana is like a cultural phenomenon.
4. Hayden Panettiere - Formerly the youngest on this list, now she's 18 and loving every minute. Her album is finally coming out next year, but the question is when? Her show Heroes is a big smash, but will it continue? Hayden will turn 19 in 2008 so it will be interesting to see if she keeps it going. I chose her because Your New Girlfriend is catchy as hell.
3. Daniele Donato - She is only #3 because Stephanie and Ashley had a longer time-frame of my interest whereas Daniele only got 6 months. Anyway, Daniele won 7+ competitions during Big Brother, but more importantly she won me over the most once I got to see everyone in action. (I was leaning towards Jen, Jessica and Amber at first) Daniele told me in a recent Userplane chat that she doesn't like to sing in front of public. Anyway, I love this girl so much!
2. Ashley Tisdale - Why is Ashley not #1? Why is Daniele not #1? Well, hold on there. Ashley had a terrific 2007 with the release of her debut album Headstrong (debuted #5), had a top 40 hit with He Said, She Said, but more importantly than that she is the hottest USA singer around these days (Carrie #2, #21 on this list) and oh yeah, HSSS is addicting! Plus with her TV credits, you will get to know her more in 2008.....believe me! Oh and she had nose surgery the other day, still the hottest American singer around. Now why did I NOT say overall singer?
1. Stephanie McIntosh - If Stephanie didn't release So Do I Say Sorry First, I guarantee you that Ashley Tisdale would be my 2007 Singer Of The Year. That's how incredible that song is. Anyway, Stephanie is the hottest singer around IMO. The voice, the style, the videos, the energy she has, it's all there. She topped my chart 10 times with SDISSF for a reason, it's that amazing. Funny how 1 song changes everything?
