Enlighten me on how a rehash of an old, 1969's Bob Fosse choreograpy is.
Because it inspires a legion of imitations, parodies and recreations. It was and is the first dance craze of the new millennium.
The We Found Love video is so painfully uninspired and the 'awe' with which the Navy regard it only speaks ill of the rest of Rihanna 's videography.
There could have been a point here.... but I don't see how Madonna wearing a leotard suddenly opened the doors for dancers to wear leotards, not to mention that the video is very Fosse inspired and Tina Knowles herself said the leotards are reminiscent of All That Jazz.
of course dancers have always worn leotards, but they weren't worn in mainstream productions like a music video since like.. the 80's because they weren't 'fashionable'. But it's no coincidence that since Hung Up leotards are now worn frequently by Pop girls.
I've always hated the song and video. I'm a grown as man, I don't connect with "Single Ladies". But I will she danced throughout the ENTIRE video. Going hard. That was pretty amazing.
The fact that every girl wanted to wear leotards constantly >>>>>
Plus other things, such as: the president doing the iconic hand gesture, every YouTube video dedicated to it, the sales, the views, the Grammy and other countless awards, and the dance routine in General is probably the most iconic female dance sequence ever.

I have never heard him having a problem with the fact that such huge honor is decided by fan votes. Should this not be what he needs to be fighting against? Not making a fool out of yourself while disrespecting other artists.
Btw. i agree that "Single Ladies" is iconic. Best? Arguable.
