They can be tacky but I don't see the big deal unless people are going out of their way to misrepresent or mock the image. There are more pressing issues that have far more impact on perceptions of other cultures than a Halloween costume in my opinion. If anything I think a costume can present a learning opportunity. It's impossible to eliminate every cultural misrepresentation from society, but it is possible to teach people what is and isn't an accurate depiction and why.

White people in this thread don't understand that they are the dominant race—especially white males. You have it so much easier than others. And don't give me this "we have feelings too!! We get upset as well!!" On a systematic scale, you're at the very top.

People can't appropriate "white culture" because there is nothing to appropriate. Your clothes come from different parts of the world. Hate to break it to you but nothing a kit white culture is yours.

No, none of them are. And this is coming from a WHITE native American. Some of you in here "Only if a white person wears it." People forget that "white people" is a reference to skin color. I am Norwegian and Native American. My skin is white as ****. But I still have Native in me. People with white skin have cultures too. Not just every other color skin. EVERYONE has a culture. But back on topic, It's a Halloween costume, not a ****ing genocide. Chill yourselves.

And those of you talking about what the "ancestors of white people" did and why it's offensive to wear these costumes if you're white... you are grouping all white people into one group and that is kind of racist. I am white, my background is Polish, my parents were born in Poland, my ancestors have nothing to do with what happened to Native Americans. White people have their own cultures too. In a way, every culture is a minority.
