I think the problem with "aids being universally related to gay people" is because people like you attach LGBT to every AIDS campaign out there, regardless of the campaign's goals tbh.

Well being a black gay male that is always volunteering for HIV awareness groups, I only see gay males represented in my city.
No need to take offense, it's my ignorance, but through my personal experiences with HIV-related cases I've only seen Gay males.
And I didn't say only a gay mans disease I said LBGT related.
Because it does infect gay males and MTF Transgender women more than any others.
