I agree. The only reason they're only predicted for 250k is because Billboard isn't factoring in the pre-orders. I think the 250k predictions mean that 250,000 people bought "Story of My Life" on its own, rather than getting it as part of pre-orders. While the copies of SOML sold through pre-orders counted toward its position on iTunes and the lead it had over Lorde and Gaga, they are not a part of the 250k prediction made by Billboard. In actuality, they are probably well above the 300k mark.
It's the same thing that's happening to "The Monster." They're only saying that it will open at 300k, even though it's certainly closer to 400k than to 300k. The 300k sales are only coming from people who bought "The Monster" on its own rather than placing a pre-order for MMLP2. After all, the album went #1 on iTunes a day after its release. I bet more pre-orders will have been placed for Eminem this week than copies will have been sold of the Arcade Fire album. I wouldn't be surprised to see Billboard mention it.
