What is Lana Del Rey missing in order to have a smash hit like Royals? I love Lana more than Lorde. I mean Royals is basically like any up tempo song on "Born to Die" yet Lorde's more successful.

Is it Lorde's age?

Lorde is more talented, Royals is better than any Lana Del Ray song, and Royals is catchier than any Lana Del Ray song.

Lorde actually has something to say which helped Royals stand out.

"Royals" is bigger than any Lana Del Rey song, but Lana Del Rey herself is bigger than "Royals."

She's young. Literally if she wasn't 16 I doubt she'd have half the success she's got.

And her music is more radio friendly (and she's less talented with a not as good voice)

This is all it is.

We all know damn well Lana's music is too depressing for the radio.

Also I find it interesting how some already jumped on a new bandwagon.

They are probably similar talented.I would say their path segregated with 12 (Lorde was discovered, Lana most likely discovered men, got addicted and was for detox with 14 in boarding school) and Lana took a 10 year detour in Life.

For me, Lorde is a poetic giant, something between Sia, Kate Bush, Bob Dylan or Leonard Cohen but we will see
Lana is a giant in visualization of her imagination. I think we shouldn't throw both against each other, talent comes in different ways and both have many of them.
