The "Don't Be a Girl About It" lyrics are definitely cringe-worthy.
However, her comment about Brandon being a leader for her doesn't bother me. To me, feminism isn't necessarily about women being independent and not looking to a man for direction. It's about having the ability to choose to be independent or not, to work or not, to be a mom or not, and all other things without being judged for it just because she's a woman. If Kelly wants a man to be the leader of the house, that's her prerogative.
Also, although Kelly is expressing some fairly traditional views, she's demonstrated that she thinks for herself so I don't think she's going to let Brandon control her life. Her saying Brandon is a leader doesn't imply she'll follow mindlessly.
I always though feminism was just about equality and respect. Sounds to me like Krandon has a healthy, equal and respectful relationship. Nothing wrong with that? Would it be any different if she said she was the leader of the house? I feel like being respectful is also about respecting what works for a couple
I'm thinking Kelly saying that Brandon is her leader, is only to make him not feel intimidated. There is no doubt in mind that Kelly is more successful than Brandon and has more money. She's Kelly Clarkson for heaven's sake.
The ensuing buzz from the nuptial enables Clarkson's re-entry at No. 32 on the Social 50. For the week ending Oct. 27, as saw a 498% increase in monitored reactions on social networks, a 66% gain in overall fans and a 62% leap in overall views. Chatter on Facebook was especially voluminous, as discussions and reactions about the singer rose by 496%.
It wasn't only Clarkson's private life that sent her shooting back to the chart, but also the publicity surrounding the release of her first holiday album, "Wrapped In Red," which was released on Oct. 29. Starting on Oct. 22 -- the second day of the current chart's tracking week -- Clarkson began releasing daily videos to YouTube, each touting a new song from the album. Unsurprisingly, her YouTube measurements went through the roof for the week: her official channel tallied a 933% increase in followers and a 584% rise in plays. http://www.billboard.com/articles/ne...-50-chart-gain
I think some of you take this a little too serious, talk about sexism, homophobia and such things tend to move on to ideologies really quickly. I just don't like it when things are seen too narrow, because it can lead to extremism very fast. This "either" "or" way of thinking can lead to quick judgements and over analyzations quickly, and to wrongful categorizations. I don't have good experiences with that. I'm not saying that you are wrong with your opinions or that your opinions are dangerous in a way, but some of you seem to overanalyze things and see problems where there aren't.
Although I was a little taken aback by Kelly's choice of words (they really sounded like she was submissive), she surely doesn't mean it that way.
It's no surprise that Brandon is the leader, you can't forget that his kids live with him and Kelly is kind of the new one to the family. And by leader, she just meant to say that someone always takes the leading role in a relationship and it doesn't have anything to do with gender. There's always one who talks more, one who is more submissive, one who is more stubborn. And Kelly probably feels safe by not having to be the one absolutely in charge for once. You often find that in women that are very successful and independent career wise, that they need some sort of private support and a place where they just can let themselves fall.
Science has also found a sexual component for that, but I won't go into that any further
This arrangement kinda slays. It's contemporary and something Kelly wouldn't think to do. I only say this because Kelly has an old soul to her voice and isn't very edgy.
I also love Tessann cuz she's Jamaican. She's like the Kelly/Rihanna hybrid artist.

I agree with you about the stuff you said about relationships. It's completely true (at least my experiences say so)
Kelly Clarkson's Wedding, 'Wrapped in Red' Album Spur Social 50 Chart Gain
Getting married can do wonders for your social life. Just ask Kelly Clarkson, who tied the knot on Oct. 20 and, in turn, hits a new high on Billboard's Social 50 chart.
The Social 50 ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, Wikipedia, Myspace and Instagram. The chart's methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views, song plays and reactions as measured by music analytics company Next Big Sound.
Clarkson married Brandon Blackstock in Walland, Tenn., but the ceremony was kept secret from the media until she announced it after the fact on Oct. 21, via Twitter.
