Video Games: Naughty Dog's next game: Uncharted in Space(Rumour)!

Now while this clearly appears to be nothing more than a fun, friendly company outing, an inquiring mind has to wonder what types of inspiration to expect creative geniuses like the folks at Naughty Dog to leave such a location with. What if (and that’s a huge, for the sake of speculation if) the folks from ND are currently in the midst of making a sci-fi game of some sort. It would definitely be uncharted (no pun intended) territory for the studio and would be an interesting direction for them, especially considering how frequently they set high standards with their projects.

Another thing not to be forgotten, is the rampant Savage Starlight comic found in Naughty Dog’s last game The Last Of Us. What at the time seemed like just an in-game comic may actually have been ND’s easter egg teasing everyone of their future release. The Savage Starlight domain is, after all, secured and the name sounds like a good one for a future-proof IP.

An even better question to be asked: With how good Naughty Dog’s action-adventure and survival-adventure games have been turning out, could you imagine how good a sci-fi adventure game would be? Definitely something to be considered if you ask me. Hopefully someone from Naughty Dog stumbles upon this rambling and that eventually leads to some amazing sci-fi experience during the next-gen. That is, of course, considering they’re not already working on one to begin with. Hey, anything’s possible.

Firstly, this article is a speculation filled mess. Second, there is no way there would ever be an Uncharted in space and if there was, it would ruin the series and I would not be purchasing. The only possible scenario I see about this would be the Savage Starlight concept, which does seem a bit intriguing.

They should create more new ips before creating the new Uncharted. Fans of NG will get a taste of something new, while NG can explore new ideas for UC4 in the meantime.

They are probably going to hand off the Uncharted IP to a different developer and focus on new games. Sony doesn't need ND to create more Uncharted games when they will sell based on name alone.

Naughty Dog currently has two teams. So expect them to pull off new IPs and ofcourse sequels.

@Geoking, Uncharted have 0monsters so don't expect them not to do this.

I doubt ND is going to make space/moon be the overall location of the story if they're really going to do it.

Sis, that isn't going to happen.

I predict their release schedule to be something like this...

"Uncharted Team" - Holiday 2014 Release -> Uncharted 4 (Maybe something to do with Atlantis)
It would be logical to release another Uncharted in the series. It would be a perfect system seller for the Playstation 4 since it would be a part of an established franchise. They would have already announced their completion of the series if they were done with it I believe.

"TLOU Team" - Summer 2015 Release -> New IP or TLOU 2 (Maybe Savage Starlight or space related game)
Their second release on the PS4 would be the perfect time to release a new IP if they were going to do so, and establish a new line of franchise games for the 8th gen consoles. Or they could create a sequel to their highly acclaimed and successful game The Last of Us which has generated a ton of buzz since its release.

"Uncharted Team" - 2016 -> New IP

"TLOU Team" - 2017 -> Sequel to first new IP or TLOU 2

Ugh, I came here expecting something official (I didn't read the full title). I don't think the next game will be in space, it doesn't really fit with the style of the series.

I want to make the Uncharted 4 thread (when it's announced).

Mess at you calling Crash Bandicoot trash when it single handedly got Naughty Dog to where they are and was the Playstation's best platformer.

Them and some of their stans can pretend all they want but without Crash and Jak and Dexter they would have been nothing. Those series got them the sales and momentum they needed to progress.

There has been some speculation that Naughty Dog’s as yet unannounced PS4 title could be set in space and based on the Savage Starlight series found in The Last Of Us. This comes after teases from Naughty Dog from cryptic answers to visiting SpaceX, which added fuel to the speculative fire.

However Naughty Dog’s Co-President Christophe Balestra has tweeted on the rumour, saying “Visiting SpaceX… and no we’re not making a game that takes place in space! We just got invited because we’re cool!”

Of course just because the next game isn’t set in space doesn’t mean it isn’t Sci-Fi based. Naughty Dog’s new title could be set on an alien planet, which technically isn’t Space. Or the company is working on either Uncharted 4, a possible sequel to The Last Of Us, or maybe (and this is more hope than anything) a new Jak & Daxter game.
